Suwannee Samrankai is a Thai-American entrepreneur and the founder of LeaStella Productions, celebrated for her diverse contributions to both business and the film industry.
As a producer, she helmed "Back To The Wall" (2018), a film she also co-wrote and starred in. She further served as Executive Producer for "And They Lived." Both films garnered awards and nominations on the film festival circuit and found distribution on Amazon Prime. Her recent producing credits include "Four on the Mantle" (2021), "The Wallet" (2022), "Lucy The Lion" (2023), and "Ruby" (completed 2024). She honed her acting skills through comprehensive training at esteemed institutions, including the Baron Brown Studio, Michelle Danner Acting Studio, and Denise Woods Training Center.
Driven by a cause close to her heart, Suwannee is a committed advocate against human trafficking. She volunteers with Cast LA, an organization dedicated to eradicating modern slavery. Her extensive international travels, which began early in her career after achieving success as a Chair-holder at Fresh Partner at age twenty-one, provided her with invaluable, firsthand insights into the experiences of human trafficking victims worldwide. This profound exposure ignited her passion to combat this epidemic by telling survivor stories through film.
In line with this commitment, she is developing "Somchai's Raid and Rescue," a limited series conceived during her intensive two-year study at Baron Brown Studio. Though a fictional narrative, the script is inspired by the various true stories of victims she has encountered. To bring this powerful narrative to a broader audience, Suwannee has successfully garnered support from industry professionals and philanthropists who are committed to the cause and assisting in its creation and release. The project is being developed in collaboration with Academy Award nominee Kalman Apple.
Suwannee continuously enhances her expertise, including through Film Production studies at UCLA. In her spare time, she maintains a rigorous personal development regimen, practicing Krav Maga, Muay Thai, and Meditation. She is also an avid reader of self-improvement literature, highly recommending titles such as "The Power of Voice" by Denise Woods, "The Power of Vulnerability" by Brené Brown, "Self-compassion" by Kristin Neff, "The Greatness Mindset" by Lewis Howes, "Become Bulletproof" by Evy Poumpouras, and "Extreme Ownership" by Jocko Willink and Leif Babin.
Her fluency in English, Thai, and Cambodian further augments her business acumen, making her a formidable businesswoman with a wealth of experience and resources. Suwannee's core dedication lies in the advocacy of human rights, embodying a true powerhouse of business and compassion.
