About Us
At LeaStella Productions, our mission is clear: to empower all filmmakers, especially those with less experience and fewer resources. We recognize the profound challenges faced by dreamers who move to Los Angeles, often encountering an industry where limited resources and connections can leave them vulnerable. I experienced these struggles firsthand, and that's precisely why I founded LeaStella Productions.
The name LeaStella itself carries special meaning for me. Originally conceived as "Leo Stars Productions," that name was already taken. So, I chose its Latin translation, which perfectly embodies my vision: my astrological sign is Leo, and my ultimate goal is to help others become stars!
My personal journey to Los Angeles began after closing my business in Thailand and navigating a deeply personal setback. I sought a complete change of scenery—to immerse myself in a new culture and find fresh perspectives. The excitement of new experiences became a powerful distraction, helping me move past a challenging time.
As I explored the city, I realized I wanted to make LA my home. This next step felt complex and, at times, disheartening. While walking to clear my head, I had a moment of clarity: I could either dwell in unhappiness or embrace the journey with a positive outlook. Serendipitously, I looked up and saw "Baron Brown," an acting school. I walked in and, to my surprise, had an immediate interview with owner Joanne Baron. I confessed I wasn't there to chase fame, but rather to find a new direction. The interview went remarkably well, and I enrolled in their intensive two-year program, where I unexpectedly discovered a profound love for acting.
My path in Hollywood soon mirrored many others—endless auditions. I quickly learned the significant challenges Asian actors faced in securing roles; a decade ago, opportunities were exceptionally limited. This pushed me to think innovatively. I decided to take matters into my own hands, co-writing, starring in, and producing my debut film, Back To The Wall. This project allowed me to collaborate with a talented director, Brian Drillinger, and a wonderful cast, including Michael Danner, Christine Dunford, Michael Sun Lee, and Eian O'Brien.
Producing Back To The Wall was a masterclass in filmmaking, complete with its share of formidable challenges. We encountered significant technical issues that led to lost footage and substantial personal cost. It was a tough, humbling, and expensive lesson, but one that ultimately strengthened my resolve and deepened my understanding of every aspect of production. Despite those hurdles, the experience ignited an even greater passion for film, and I discovered my true calling as a producer. I furthered my education at UCLA and have since produced films alongside acclaimed professionals like Oscar-nominated director Kalman Apple, Emmy Award-winning director Jaclyn Bethany, and award-winning cinematographers Valentina Caniglia and Samuel Macaluso.
Today, I'm incredibly grateful for the extensive experience I've gained and for the fantastic team I work with to execute film projects of all scales. For aspiring filmmakers needing comprehensive guidance with production, crew setup, permits, and more, LeaStella Productions is your one-stop shop. We guide projects from script to completion, including strategies for film festivals, and consult on foreign film projects looking to shoot in Los Angeles on a budget.
